I have been shopping at these stores for many years. Different locations different cities. multiple visits per week. In all those years, in all those stores I have been to one store that was ready for business.
Everything I am going to say is fact, but I’ll add “In my humble opinion” the 99 cents only stores failed of their own accord.
The manager of the store nearest me, in Winnetka, CA. didn’t have the business acumen to run a lemonade stand.
The stores are very poorly merchandised, understocked and dirty.
I spoke with a guy who worked at the Winnetka location and said the back room was stacked to the rafters with unstocked merchandise.
I read about retail stores closing all or many of their stores and it’s all the same line:
“With the economy the way it is going, inflation surging, the corona virus and the shop-lifting, we regret to announce our closure”.
99 cents only store did the only thing they could do – quit. You know why? They clearly refuse to or can not afford the necessary pay-roll.
99 cents only stores turned into joke with too many people at headquarters and not enough in the stores.
99 cents only stores was way too late to the on-line piece. Didn’t anyone there notice that as a fatal mistake made by the businesses ahead of them in line to be pushed off the plank?
I want the retailers who fail miserably because of hating retail to stop blaming shop-lifters, Covid and the economy.
99 cents only store : you choked, you failed, you slipped in your own vomit because you forgot the customer.
99 cents only store out of business
