Sorry kids no dancers here. Oh since you went ahead a clicked… here ya go: But this is an article about the company that is supposed to help seniors

If you’re not ready for a long story – the takeaway from this article is:
GO GO GRANDPARENT is a for profit “business” that claims to help senior citizens. They got ahold of me and I feel seriously ripped-off.
If you find one of their ads targeting you as a senior who might need assistance – Avoid it like a jalapeno colonic.
If you are in the mood for a long story, then grab a cup of coffee and a pop-tart and read on. Unless you are Juan H. then get some unsweetened tea and scones.
The story.
A friend in need reached out to me in the wee hours of the morning wanting to go to the hospital about thirty miles away. I found him and I tried to get him a ride from the mess that is Uber and then the knee to the groin that is Lyft – to no avail. I ended up somehow connecting with GoGoGrandparent. They took care of everything! The lady at the Philippines call center was awesomely friendly, the driver was cool and my friend got his much needed care. It wasn’t cheap (GoGoGrandparent is expensive) but it was worth it to help my bud. The operator wouldn’t let me go until I heard her well rehearsed sales pitch. Her tone made me feel cared about so I became a member at $29.00 a month. by the way i spoke with quite a few angels from the call center and they all restored my faith in humanity and understanding.
I didn’t think too much about it after that until another friend needed her grass cut. She was tired and busy, I could have done it myself, but – I didn’t want to. Soes I calls GoGoGrandparent. They set me up with a “landscaper” to go tomorrow to mow her yard – just the back yard, small job- she cuts it herself all the time. They said $40 for an hour (more than enough time) and $8.00 to them . Done. Right?
So this hammer-head calls me the next morning and says he doesn’t have a lawn mower. [production note: put laugh track here]. When the dust settled he called me, said he couldn’t start my girls lawnmower, cut half the back yard with a push-mower and quit. He said he’ll bill his agency Rent-A-Fool, and I said I’m not paying $40 bucks.
I’m not really all that mad – sometimes things just don’t work out. So it’s over. Right?
AND THEN
I gets a call from Dick [expletive deleted] Tracey, the GoGoGrampa “investigator” demanding photos of the yard (front and back) to assist him – and TOTALLY questioning my integrity. So I sez I sez, I sez. How about this. I’ll assist you! I said take the $40 out of my account plus your hard earned $8. and cancel my membership and I swear to the Heavens he laughed. He made no attempt at a compromise or to save the account. How much are you paying your investigator to make sure WE aren’t ripping YOU off?
Again, Stuff happens. $48 for a hard lesson learned is a bargain. At least it’s over. Right?
My life is never boring. bet you wish you were me.
hey! wait a minute!!! I thought your sole niche in the market was helping technologically under-developed seniors get what they need without having to deal with this interweb thing and electronic mail and I think you even mention no cell phone savvy needed!!?? BUT YOU WANT ME TO USE A PHONE AND TAKE SNAPSHOTS OF MY YARD (FRONT AND BACK) AND THEN SEND THEM TO YOU???? A part of the market you are trying to appeal to doesn’t even OWN a cell-phone. This is getting laughable.
Did you ask the gardener to take pictures???
You guys have forgotten who you are supposed to be and what your mission statement is.
Here is the email I received from the woefully inexperienced Inspector.

HERE’S MY REPLY:
Re: GoGoGrandparent Home Services Receipt
You lost me and everyone I can tell as a customer for life for $8.? let’s see… IF I live another five years (fingers crossed!) that’s $29. a month… carry the five… hmm that’s $1,740. and let’s just say I talk two seniors (a modest projection wouldn’t you say?) into NEVER doing business with you… that’s $1,750 times… Sounds like over five thousand dollars in revenue lost… Hey! at least you got your $8. Who’s your accountant?
Remember God was the first Senior citizen… and he’s watching.
Peace.
Robert
that was my reply to them.
Some notes:
- After the first transaction (the Uber ride) my bank rejected the charge due to the name of the company. They told me that! – I guess the bank thought I was:
1) an old perv
2) talking to girls at 3:00 AM
to their credit they were half right.
- I was a manager of a retail store that featured senior discounts on Tuesdays. Some associates disliked working Tuesdays because they didn’t like dealing with old folks. After individual coaching – some team members adjusted their performance. Some would not. I helped them out (the way they came in). The grampa investigator, Inspector Highenmighty is in the wrong job. He is killing the team.
- Hey guys, calling the money you pry out of seniors’ pensions a “Trust and Safety Fee” sounds incredibly ridiculous when you fumble something like you did with me. Change the term or hold on to the ball.
Finally.
